Lawrence Kim, AIA, LEED AP
A+U LAB is led by Lawrence Kim. He is an architect and professor at Pusan National University.
As a practitioner, Lawrence brings extensive experience and expertise from the design and construction industries to his work. Prior to migrating to Korea in 2015, Lawrence practiced architecture based in New York City for over twenty years, working regionally and internationally. His diverse and prominent list of clients includes international conglomerates, real estate development companies, governments, universities, hospitals, cultural institutions, and non-profit organizations. Lawrence’s design projects have received over thirty international design awards and honors in the past ten years, including American Institute of Architects Design Award, Society of American Registered Architects Design Award, the Plan Award, the American Architecture Prize, and Interior Design Best of Year Award Merit Honoree. He has exhibited internationally, and his projects have earned recognition in major international publications as well as various trade magazines and newspapers.
At Pusan National University, Lawrence teaches in the Department of Architecture. His teaching areas include architecture and urban design studios, theory seminars, and research workshops. Lawrence also has held teaching appointments and served as a guest lecturer and critic at numerous international universities in his career.
Lawrence is a licensed architect in the USA and a LEED Accredited Professional. He received his Master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation in New York, and his Bachelor's degree from University of Oregon's School of Architecture and Allied Arts in Eugene
